May 30: A Day at the Spa

Yes, it’s impossible to not be inundated by the number of servers running GT3 cars at the fearsome and historic Spa-Francorchamps.

However, we are spicing it up by adding the Oreca FLM09, an LMP2 prototype from 2009 into the mix. We’re still working out some details on how to deploy the car into a field of GT3s so stay tuned for updates.

Anyone who wants to drive the Oreca will have that option. However, drivers in the Oreca will no performance levelling and will have a completely unlocked set-up.

Those in GT3 cars will have performance levelling across the four driver groups we used in Imola (Gold, Bronze, Silver, etc.) and be able to adjust tire compounds, tire pressure, aero, brake bias, ABS, and traction control.

To join the fun, you need to register before 9PM Ottawa Time on May 28, 2020. See below for details. As specifics evolve, you’ll be able to update your data, but to secure you spot, you need to book a spot and finalize all your details by the deadline. We’ll post details as things evolve, so subscribe to our site for updates.

Environmental Conditions

We’ll be replicating the approach from our recent races of compressing sun-up to sundown into 90 minutes. Everything else you need to know, including how to secure one of our limited grid slots is below. Hope to see you all there!

How to Register

The deadline is May 28 at 9PM Ottawa time.

Enter name, Steam GUID, car preference, etc in this sheet. Be sure to choose a livery that has not already been claimed.

We encourage the use of custom liveries (car skin)! See this tutorial using free software and let your creativity flow. The registration form provides a link to our standard number plate template and font, should you wish to use it.

We encourage the use of a custom livery. All custom liveries get uploaded to this folder for ease of download. If you have one that we don’t already have in our repository, email a link to your full livery folder at battlegoat@battlegoatracing.com by the registration deadline. Please install others’ liveries so that you’re not racing a bunch of white cars.

If we don’t have all of your info by May 28 at 9:00PM Ottawa time, you run the risk of :

  • not being able to participate;
  • not having your livery loaded to the live stream;
  • being assigned a random car in a random class; and,
  • facing unreasonable BoP.

Rules of Engagement:

We’re about fun ALWAYS trumping purity of competition. So, if you prefer a dominating win over lots side-by-side action where everyone leaves their fellow drivers enough room and everyone does their best to avoid ruining another driver’s race, our events might not be for you. With that in mind:

  • normal BGR standards apply (no brake-checks; no running someone out of track even if they are on the outside of the exit of the corner, or if you’re ahead; no moving in the braking zone; respect blue flags, etc.)
  • if you punt someone and its your fault, wait for them to recover and let them in front of you
  • must be on Discord with push to talk enabled
  • refrain from whining, ranting, debating, losing your cool, or generally being a downer on track or on discord
  • if you’re being lapped (blue flag): make it easy for the other car to pass you

The server password will be distributed verbally on race day. You’ll need to connect to our Discord (free app) Race Chat channel to get it and you’ll need to remain connected throughout the event. Participants are asked to minimize banter during the race so that others can concentrate.
