In a bit of an experiment aimed at assessing whether we can squeeze a longer race into an evening, we’re replacing our June 15 Slacker night with a longer event.
It will feature GT3 cars using ballast and restrictor just like we used at Imola earlier in May and will cover the same sunrise to sunset period.
To join the fun, you need to register before 9PM Ottawa Time on June 12, 2020. See below for details.
Environmental Conditions
We’ll be replicating the approach from our recent races of compressing sun-up to sundown into 90 minutes. Everything else you need to know, including how to secure one of our limited grid slots is below. Hope to see you all there!
How to Register
The deadline is June 12 at 9PM Ottawa time.
Enter name, Steam GUID, car preference, etc in this sheet. Be sure to choose a livery that has not already been claimed.
We encourage the use of custom liveries (car skin)! See this tutorial using free software and let your creativity flow. The registration form provides a link to our standard number plate template and font, should you wish to use it.
All custom liveries get uploaded to this folder for ease of download. If you have one that we don’t already have in our repository, email a link to your full livery folder at battlegoat@battlegoatracing.com by the registration deadline. Please install others’ liveries so that you’re not racing a bunch of white cars.
If we don’t have all of your info by June 12 at 9:00PM Ottawa time, you run the risk of :
- not being able to participate;
- not having your livery loaded to the live stream;
- being assigned a random car in a random class; and,
- facing unreasonable BoP.
Schedule & Format
All times are Ottawa time.
Practice:
Practice server will launch approximately one week of ahead of qualifying with free car choice and open set-ups.
Following the close of registration, server will restart with locked set-ups (see below), car assignments, and BoP.
Qualifying:
June 15 @ 7:15PM – 15 min
The server will be running a practice session in advance of qualifying.
Race:
June 15 @ 7:30PM – 90 min, featuring:
- mandatory pit-stop (between minute 1 and minute 89)
- set-ups:
- GT3 cars: locked except for: tire compound, tire pressures, brake bias, ABS, and TC
- 50% damage
- 200% fuel consumption
- 200% tire wear
- single race format
- lighting conditions will progress at accelerated rate (e.g., 11x) during the 90 min race so that it seems like we passed through the roughly 14 hours between sunrise and sunset.
Penalties:
- server will enforce track limits – 3 wheels allowed out
- jump start: drive-through penalty
Headlights:
Be sure to bind a button on your controller/keyboard to enable your headlights in case the auto function doesn’t work. Even if you can see well enough without headlights, other drivers may not be able to see you if you’re running without lights so you’ll need to be able to turn them on.
Game Content & Apps:
- Track: Spa-Francorchamps with 24HR Layout
- Cars:
- Kunos GT3 Cars (Standard and Kunos DLC) — Please have this sorted in advance.
- Sol: You need this to experience time progression. (follow the INSTALL guide completely, including the section on configuring for lower-performing systems).
- If you’re not able to run Sol due to PC limitations, please let us know in the registration process.
- CrewChief: Helps to keep you from driving into others and gives valuable race/car data through your headphones. Download here.
- Helicorsa: Small radar app that helps reduce the risk of collisions inherent with the limited field of view available when simming.
- Custom Skins/Liveries: We encourage you to run a custom livery (car skin)! See this tutorial using free software and let your creativity flow. The registration form provides a link to our standard number plate template and font, should you wish to use it, as well as a link to all of our custom liveries. Please install others’ liveries so that you’re not racing a bunch of white cars. We need a link to your full livery folder emailed to us at battlegoat@battlegoatracing.com by the registration deadline.
Rules of Engagement:
We’re about fun ALWAYS trumping purity of competition. So, if you prefer a dominating win over lots side-by-side action where everyone leaves their fellow drivers enough room and everyone does their best to avoid ruining another driver’s race, our events might not be for you. With that in mind:
- normal BGR standards apply (no brake-checks; no running someone out of track even if they are on the outside of the exit of the corner, or if you’re ahead; no moving in the braking zone; respect blue flags, etc.)
- if you punt someone and its your fault, wait for them to recover and let them in front of you
- must be on Discord with push to talk enabled
- refrain from whining, ranting, debating, losing your cool, or generally being a downer on track or on discord
- if you’re being lapped (blue flag): make it easy for the other car to pass you
The server password will be distributed verbally on race day. You’ll need to connect to our Discord (free app) Race Chat channel to get it and you’ll need to remain connected throughout the event. Participants are asked to minimize banter during the race so that others can concentrate.
