Day 17 Report

We wake up and look out over Vancouver. No, actually Richmond, but that’s Vancouver in the distance right? Nope, facing the wrong way. At least the Skytrain is nearby and it is the Skytrain that carried us to 999 Canada Place on the Vancouver Waterfront where we were to meet our tour group.

We got there early so we walked around Pan Pacific place and snapped photos of these pavers that I do not recall being here back in 2016.

Our tour was with Grayline and our guide/driver, Alex grew-up in Ottawa, but had fallen in love in Vancouver in his early 20s. This is worth mentioning as his way of speaking seemed so familiar and easy to digest. He attributed to the familiarity to being an Ottawa Valley boy.

Our first stop was Granville Island and wow did we love that place! So much activity and energy, bright colours… amazing.

We had the yummiest, juiciest nectaries we had ever tasted, as well as too many baked goods. From there, we hit Stanley Park.

Our next major stop was the Capilano Salmon Hatchery, part of the Salmonid Enhancement Program. Boy, does that ever bring back DFO nightmares. We actually saw mature salmon using the fish ladders and hanging out in the holding tanks.

After that, we stopped at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Crossing the bridge was really fun with a big crowd as it really made the bridge wobble and move, testing everyone’s sense of balance. The tree top canopy paths were cool, too, as was the cliff walk.

The tour bus eventually dropped us off in Gastown where we grabbed dinner at the Vancouver location of Tacofino. When we arrived, I was convinced that no one in the vey full restaurant and patio was over 32, but was we finished our meals other “old” people started arriving.

The Skytrain back to Richmond was surprisingly full, allowing T and I to sit together for only the last couple of stops. We arrived back the condo pretty exhausted, but we finished laundry before bed.
