Day 22 Report

Today went better than expected as Trish improved in leaps and bounds. She isn’t 100% yet, but she went to bed looking, sounding, and feeling much more like herself. Thanks to everyone who wished her well! On top of that good news, we covered all the ground we had planned.

We grabbed ab open top bus tour that that covered a big swath of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge, during which I was snapping like mad as the scenery flew by. No, there wasn’t a lot of composition time for any of these, but they give a sense of what San Francisco looks like. Given T still recovering, we didn’t do much hopping off.

The tour was really eye opening from the meterological perspective. What started out as a warm day (19C), became blustery and cold as we approached Golden Gate Park. It then became freezing as we crossed the bridge. Gloves, long pants, and jackets were suddenly required. Being Canadians, we were a combination of somewhat prepared (hoodies and shells) and able to weather it (Ottawa winters). Others looked much more uncomfortable.

Before we leave the tour, we have to mention Spidey. He was busking on the waterfront, putting on quite a show.

After the tour and a stop at the hotel, we had dinner on the waterfront (more crab and shrimp for me!) and took a short stroll before boarding the vessel for a sunset cruise around the bay. While the ship provided a comfortable interior, we were prepared for the outdoors because I wasn’t going to not take photos!

Turns out, it was wonderfully pleasant two hours. The tour guide also sang and played guitar throughout the voyage and the views were beautiful.

Tomorrow is our last day in SF and also our visit to Alcatraz. We’re super excited about this one! Off to bed now!
